Helen Goodland is principal of Brantwood Consulting to which she brings over 30 years of experience working to advance innovative high–performance building projects in Canada and around the world. She is also co-founder of Building Technology Innovations through which she provides advice and mentorship to start-ups focused on the construction industry. Currently, she serves on the Canadian Construction Association’s Corporate Social Responsibility Taskforce and as chair of the United Nations Sustainable Building and Climate Initiative’s Materials Technical Advisory Committee She is also a member of the BCIT School of Architectural Technology degree program advisory committee. She is an architect registered in the UK and has an MBA from the University of BC. She is also one of the BC Sustainable Energy Association’s climate action heroes and has been nominated as a YWCA woman of distinction.
Tim Coldwell, Managing Director, CHANDOS
Tim provides leadership and is responsible for all business operations, people, strategy and ventures in Chandos’ Edmonton district. Over the fifteen years that he has been with Chandos, Tim has consistently used innovation to differentiate and grow the organization. Through Tim’s leadership, Chandos has become the nation’s leader in Integrated Project Delivery and Tim personally is one of the most experienced IPD practitioners in Canada. Tim was instrumental in Chandos’ decision to utilize lean production on all projects (regardless delivery method) as well as Chandos’ decision to provide vdc/bim for layout/prefabrication as an in-house service for trade partners. Tim is the board Chair of the Integrated Project Delivery Alliance and a board member of the San Francisco based Centre for Innovation in the Design and Construction Industry and the Edmonton Construction Association. An avid community supporter, Tim is a co-chair with the United Way. He also volunteers with Workplace Learning, an organization that exists to inspire high school kids to explore career paths that may not be visible to them.
Clint Undseth, Vice President, Innovation, Stuart Olson Inc.
Clint Undseth is the Vice President of Innovation for the Stuart Olson Group of Companies. He has 30 years of experience in the construction and technology industries ranging from design to strategy and policy for business, government and not for profits. This includes AMP Inc. IBM Global Services, Canada’s Assembly of First Nations and the Global Cyber Security Centre. Over the last 7 years he has been strategically involved in creating high performing building strategies, standards and solutions. Clint Chairs an Innovation Committee for the Chamber of Commerce and is currently studying strategic change management at the University of Virginia.
Clint Undseth is Vice President of Innovation for Stuart Olson Inc. In his capacity he has responsibility for Building Performance, Strategic Collaborative Programs and new program development including Modular Pre-Fabrication and Corporate Sustainability.
Chris Wiesinger, Vice President, Business Innovation & Partnerships, GeoSim Systems Ltd., and co-founder of GeoSim Cities Inc.
Chris Wiesinger is Vice President, Business Innovation and Partnerships for GeoSim Systems, Ltd., and co-founder of GeoSim Cities, Inc. Tel Aviv-based GeoSim Systems Ltd. has pioneered proprietary technology and know-how for creating high-precision, high-resolution, 3D digital replicas of cities. Its first large-scale project is Virtual Vancouver, a 15 km2 model currently expanding to 95 km2. The model has absolute precision of 5-10 cm, and 1 cm resolution. Vancouver-based GeoSim Cities, Inc. is chartered to build and coordinate partner applications that leverage GeoSim city platforms. These applications include city management; architecture, engineering and construction; utility asset management; public safety; insurance; gaming and entertainment; digital media production; commerce; and tourism.
Chris is a technology entrepreneur with 25+ years experience at the intersection of business, technology and innovation. This includes designing, communicating and executing strategy; consulting, marketing and business development; managing relationships with clients and partners; software product design and management; team leadership and project management; and software implementation in sensitive operational environments. Alongside experience in startups and turn-arounds, he has served as Innovation Lead at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in initiatives involving identity management, privacy and the border and immigration security domain; VP of Business Development at Visiphor Corporation; and Account Executive at Electronic Data Systems (now HP). He is an Advisor to CloudMask, Corp., and serves on the Board of Directors of Kinbrace, a non-profit organization. Chris holds a BA (History/Economics) and MA (History) from the University of British Columbia.
Vick Yau, Co-Founder, VanAir Design
Vick Yau is a University of British Columbia (UBC) Commerce graduate and founded VanAir Design with his classmate James Higgins developing innovative architectural products with a focus on ventilation and acoustics. In 2013, their first installations were on UBC campus and at the Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability. Today, they are specified in residential, multi-family, commercial and Passive House projects across North America.
As an entrepreneur, his role encompasses design, education, operations, marketing and sales. Vick frequently speaks to architects, designers, engineers and developers about ventilation and acoustics. He shares a passion for sustainable technologies and is interested in its integration with human behaviour in a functional and aesthetical sense.
